Happy New Year!
The start of another new year has come and gone. Here we are basically halfway through January. Many people will make resolutions hoping that this year is “their” year. I have fallen into this trap almost every year. Last year my friends and I started a fun tradition of doing Bingo cards. We write down 25 mini goals we have for the year and see who can get a Bingo first.
For me, this is a fun and easier way of making sure I not only do things that I want to accomplish but also lean into the habits and hobbies that I already have. Some things that I have on my Bingo card are: make cream puffs, read the entire Bible, get a massage, read War and Peace, and try a new local coffee shop.
Having these small goals instead of one giant resolution helps me to be able to enjoy what I am doing. It seems like less pressure than trying to complete one huge resolution. Now some of my Bingo card items are daunting, but what is life if not a little scary and challenging.
Usually, I am not the person that says a new year is their year, but for 2026 I am declaring it my year. It is my year to have adventure, to grow, to put myself first. And I don’t mean that in a selfish way but for so long I have been compliant and have done what is expected of me. This year I want to focus on my own growth even if it makes others uncomfortable.
The goal is to grow mentally, spiritually, physically, in my relationship with others and my relationship with myself. I know that the growth I want isn’t going to be an easy process and I am going to fail so many times as I try to make these changes. But I truly believe with God and the resources He has given me that I will accomplish what I am setting out to achieve. I want to make sure that I leave 2026 a stronger person than when I entered.
I pray that whatever goals you have for yourself this year that you are able to accomplish. I pray that 2026 is the “your” year.
Much love,
Victoria
