Christmas Time is Here!

Hello All,

I have to be honest with all of you. This Christmas I have been feeling guilty because I will probably not be able to get my family the gifts that I would like to and that they deserve. Having been off work for 3 weeks has made it difficult to do anything but pay the bills.

Now don’t get me wrong I am so grateful that I am still able to get all my bills paid. But it hasn’t left any money to buy Christmas presents or do many of the things that I wish I could do. No eating out, buying myself a new Christmas outfit, or doing really anything that has a cost associated with it.

While not being able to give the gifts I want to give is a struggle for me, I know that my family doesn’t really care. I also think it is a good change in my mind set on what Christmas should really be about. For me one of my favorite things of Christmas is spending time with my friends and family. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and all the blessings that God has given me through the last twelve months. It’s a time to reflect on God sending His son to the earth for my salvation.

Christmas has been so commercialized and is filled with the expectation of the living room being filled with presents. Buying things we don’t even need. I have fallen into this trap for so long that I think it is probably a good thing that I can’t afford to spend tons of money this year. It is also giving me an opportunity to use the skills and talents that I possess to really bless my family without spending as much money. I will get to focus on spending time with friends and family instead of stressing over going to the stores to pick out the perfect gift for each person.

My goal for this Christmas is to be intentional. Intentional with my time, with my presence, my energy, and my money. I want to make sure these last few days heading into Christmas create joy and festivity not just for me but all those around me. I want to make sure that instead of presenting a stressed out version of myself, I present a version that brings others joy and cheerfulness.

So with that I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas! May all of you have a truly magical Christmas season.

Much love,

Victoria
