Never Alone

Hey All,

I am part of a writing group where we read over each other's work in progress and as I was reading one of my group member’s newest chapters a line he had written struck me deep in my heart. “Sometimes the miracle is discovering that even in weakness, you were never abandoned.”

After reading this line, I had to sit and just let it wash over me. The deep truth in this simple sentence, written by a friend and an up-and-coming writer, hit me harder than a lot of material from recognized authors.

I have personally experienced this truth in many ways recently. My entire life I have felt like being vulnerable is a weakness. I have always had friends but never let anyone know what was going on beyond surface level. People ask how I am, and I am always fine even if there is a warzone going on in my mind. Until recently, when I came to a point where I was so broken and desperate, that I had no choice but to follow God’s prompting to reach out to a few people around me to help me with what I was going through.

Through this instance, and the encouragement of the people I reached out to and other resources, I have been able to reach out to others in my friend group adn really create a support group for when I am struggling. I have been struck with the realization several times in the past six months of God’s gift of friends. Sometimes all I can do is utter a simple thank you to God for helping me see which people in my life He put there for a reason, that I held at arm's length while nurturing friendships that didn’t have space in my life anymore.

Not only has God blessed me with friends and mentors to help with everyday life, spiritual growth, and to celebrate with me, He has blessed me with a writing group to share in my trials and triumphs as we all try to use our talents on this journey God has us on. He has provided a church family that truly feels like family. He has given me coworkers that are so supportive and protective when I need it.

In the last six months, it would have been so easy to do what I have always done- keep everything inside and suffer with the anxiety by myself until I spiral. Instead, I followed the Lord’s prompting to reach out to a wonderful couple who have since become my mentors, which speared me on to reach out to others who have helped with a lot of the issues that were plaguing me.

All of the people God have shown me as people for my support group have been amazing and I am truly blessed by each and every one of them. While these people definitely remind me that I am never alone, that I never have to deal with anything on my own I have to give glory to God for being the first person to help me realize I am not abandoned.

Without Him in my life and His nudging I would never have the people He led me to. He never abandoned me, and the difference this time was that I didn’t abandon Him. I invited Him into my struggles, instead of closing Him out and trying to handle it all on my own. God will never abandon us, but we have to invite Him into our struggles for us to really feel His presence.

In these difficult times, remember you are never alone, even in your weakest moments. God is with you in every moment, invite Him in and allow Him to show you those people in your life who are safe and who will support you.

Thank you to everyone who has never abandoned me and is supporting me in every aspect of my life. I thank God for each and every one of you, every day.

Much love,

Victoria
